Dear C2C Guide,
October 14
There were many ups and downs with our recent 2 day C2C ride but the highlight has to be our stay at Lowbyer Manor.
Richard and Laura could not have done more to make our overnight stay more pleasant.
I rang early in the day to confirm we were arriving but would be delayed due to various unforeseen events. This delay was longer than expected and we descended into Alston freezing cold after attacking Hartside Fell, cold and in the dark. Richard quickly had pots of hot tea and biscuits on the go while we changed so as not to miss Alston's 9.00pm evening meal cut off time, something that Laura had earlier warned us about. Once warmed and changed and with only minutes to spare, Laura bundled us into the car and dropped us in the High Street where we were fed and watered.
The rooms at Lowbyer were immaculate, warm and comfortable in a stunning old building with excellent modern en-suite facilities. The breakfast menu was varied, locally sourced, great for the soul and served with a smile. (Go for the full English).
2 of our party were a little uncertain of continuing the journey after a tough first day and I'm certain that Laura and Richard at Lowbyer contributed massively in recharging their batteries to ensure that we all set off on day 2 and made it to the finish line.
A huge thanks to them both and a big thanks to the C2C guide for listing the establishment. I cannot recommend Lowbyer enough and I shall certainly return.
Thanks and regards
Neil Foley
